1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ALC Connect mobile application ("the App"), operated by the American Language Center Rabat ("ALC," "we," "our," or "us").
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are a parent or guardian creating or managing an account for a minor, you accept these Terms on their behalf.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
ALC Connect is a communication platform designed exclusively for the American Language Center Rabat community. The App provides:
- Direct and group messaging between authorized users
- Announcements from instructors, coordinators, and administrators
- Push notifications for new messages and announcements
- File sharing (images and documents) within conversations
- Profile management and academic information display
The App is intended for use by ALC students, parents of students, instructors, coordinators, and administrators. It is not a general-purpose messaging service — it is restricted to educational communication within ALC.
3. Eligibility & Registration
- Accounts are created by ALC administrators for students, instructors, and staff.
- Parents may self-register by verifying their child's enrollment credentials.
- Student accounts may belong to minors; ALC obtains consent through the enrollment process.
- Each user must have only one account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You must change your default password upon first login.
- You must not share your account credentials with anyone.
4. User Roles & Permissions
ALC Connect enforces role-based access controls:
- Students can message their instructors and coordinators only (not other students).
- Parents can message instructors of their linked children and coordinators only.
- Instructors can reply within conversations they are added to, and create announcements.
- Coordinators can message any user in their center, create conversations and group chats, and create announcements.
- Administrators have read-only access to communications and can manage users and create announcements.
- Super Administrators have full access across all ALC centers.
Users must not attempt to circumvent these role-based restrictions.
5. Acceptable Use
By using ALC Connect, you agree not to:
- Share login credentials with others
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Send harassing, threatening, abusive, or inappropriate messages
- Share obscene, sexually explicit, or violent content
- Share content that promotes discrimination, hate, or bullying
- Upload malware, viruses, or harmful files
- Use the App for commercial solicitation or spam
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or hack the application
- Use the App for any purpose unrelated to ALC educational activities
- Share personal contact information of minors outside the App
Violations of this policy may result in account deactivation or termination.
6. Content & Intellectual Property
- Users retain ownership of content they create (messages, photos, documents).
- By submitting content, you grant ALC a limited license to store, transmit, and display it within the App as necessary for the service to function.
- ALC does not claim ownership of user-generated content.
- The ALC Connect name, logo, and branding are property of American Language Center Rabat.
- The App software is proprietary; no license to source code is granted.
7. Content Moderation
- ALC administrators may review messages and content for compliance with these Terms and ALC policies.
- ALC reserves the right to remove content that violates these Terms.
- ALC reserves the right to deactivate accounts that violate these Terms.
- Users should report inappropriate content to ALC administration.
8. Privacy
Use of ALC Connect is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Push Notifications
ALC Connect sends push notifications for new messages and announcements. By using the App, you consent to receiving these notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the App settings.
10. File Sharing
- Users may share images and documents through the messaging feature.
- Maximum file size: 10MB per upload.
- Permitted file types: images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP), documents (PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, XLS, XLSX).
- Users must not share files that violate the Acceptable Use Policy.
- ALC is not responsible for the content of shared files but reserves the right to remove them.
11. Availability & Modifications
- ALC Connect is provided "as is" — we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time.
- We may update these Terms; continued use constitutes acceptance.
- Scheduled maintenance may cause temporary unavailability.
12. Limitation of Liability
ALC Connect is provided for educational communication purposes only. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ALC and its developers are not liable for:
- Loss of data or messages
- Service interruptions or downtime
- Unauthorized access resulting from user negligence (e.g., shared passwords)
- Content posted by other users
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the user for the service (the App is free).
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ALC, its staff, and its developers from any claims, losses, or damages arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your misuse of the App
- Content you submit through the App
14. Account Termination
14.1
- ALC may deactivate or terminate accounts at any time for violation of these Terms or ALC policies.
- ALC may deactivate accounts when a student is no longer enrolled.
14.2
- You may delete your account directly from the App via Settings → Delete Account.
- After confirmation, your account enters a 14-day grace period. You may continue using the App during this time.
- After 14 days, your account is automatically and permanently deleted. No staff approval is required.
- You may cancel the deletion at any time during the 14-day grace period from the App's Settings screen.
- If you cannot access the App, you may request deletion by contacting ALC administration (see our Account Deletion page).
14.3
- Upon permanent deletion, your personal data (name, email, phone, photo, student ID) is permanently erased.
- Your messages and announcements are retained but displayed with an anonymized author ("Deleted User").
- Your account will be locked — you will no longer be able to log in or access the App.
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
15. Dispute Resolution
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Morocco, including Law No. 09-08 on the Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of Personal Data.
- Any disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved through direct communication with ALC administration.
- If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of Rabat, Morocco.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ALC regarding your use of ALC Connect. These Terms supersede any prior agreements or communications.
